Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of GERD

Hi. My husband has been suffering from some type of Gerd maybe? Every time he eats, he feels like food is trying to come back up. He noticed last night he was fine for awhile until he laid down in bed. No burning, nausea, or vomiting. Just allot of little belches. He has had an umbilical hernia for a few years now. I doubt that has anything to do with it but just mentioning it.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your husband has hernia. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are due to abnormal functioning of sphincter of esophagus . I would suggest you to eat light and non spicy specially at night , eat at least one hour before going to bed , take light walk after eating and keep your head elevated while sleeping. Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ambulatory acidity test along with endoscopy and x-ray of upper digestive track . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , proton pump inhibitor .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
