Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I'm on day 6 of recovery from my tonsils surgery my uvula is still slightly swollen which is one of my concerns. The other concern is I took a look at my scabs with a flashlight the right side seems to be coming off faster than the left side... it is slightly pinkish around the area and then on my left side of my scab near the top is a little red.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swollen uvula after tonsils surgery which is not an uncommon occurence. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take preventive measures and avoid intake of cold beverages and sharp spicy food. You should take stream and warm saline gargles several times a day especially before going to bed and take paracetamol for pain and inflammation. You should ENT specialist for proper examination and to rule out other conditions. Doctor may order blood test and throat swab test to find out exact cause and start treatment accordingly. Doctor may prescribe antibiotic course for around week along with mucolytic drug and antihistamine drug.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
