Suggest Treatment For Swollen Tonsils

My 5 year old son was prescribed 3 days of prednisolone 7.5 ML twice a day for swollen tonsils. He has frequent strep and tonsillitis but this is the first time on a steroid. I m just weighing out the options of giving it to him or not. Most cases show the swelling comes back right after you stop giving the steroid. Thank you,
