Suggest Treatment For Swollen Sublingual Gland

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...went to Dr today for slightly swollen sumlimal gland in throat just below jaw (on side). He said it was from drainage possibly. No infection or other symptoms at this point. Been there for about 1 month. Advice was to suck on lemons or use syringe with lemon. Agree?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain if the gland is swollen on one side of the jaw and not just below the chin then it is probably submandibular salivary gland and not sublingual gland..
As there is no pain or any other symptoms the swelling can be due to clogging of the duct of submandibular gland due to formation of crystalline stones from minerals present in saliva..
A cross sectional x ray or an MRI can help in diagnosis..
In case if it is not due to salivary gland it can be due to swollen lymph node and FNAC/biopsy can help in diagnosis..

You can consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and confirming the cause can help in treating correctly..

Sucking lemons can help in stimulating saliva flow and if there are stones in the gland small stones can be flushed off..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
