Suggest Treatment For Swollen Parotid Gland

Female, age 51, dx'd with Systemic Lupus in 1989; since been dx'd with Sjogren's Syndrome. SS hadn't really bothered me too much until recently - dry eyes, dry nose. Now I have a swelling of (I think) the parotid gland on left side. No pain to the touch, but every now and then it feels like something "draining" into my throat (almost like sand being poured onto my uvula). I cough until I gag. It wakes me up many times during the night and now occasionally happens when awake and sitting/standing erect. I had thought it was post-nasal drip but the "tickle" is not in the very back of the throat. Could this sensation be linked with the swollen parotid gland? (PS I've shown the swelling to my rheumatologist three times over the past two years and all he does is press on it and say "I don't feel anything." Never pursues it further.

yes there could be an inflamed parotid causing the problem.. however you would need to get a ultrasound of the parotids and a diagnostic sialendoscopy if parotid in case of inflammTory changes in the parotid
