Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Node In Armpit

I had a swollen lymph node in my armpit, it went down and left a small light bruise, then another gland became swollen under it. I still feel a small knot where both of them were. Now I have a swollen gland under the other arm and it s repeating this pattern. They seem to last a little less than a week and then move to another place. This is the 5th one I ve had in about a month.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Firstly, you have to understand that the lymph nodes [lymph glands] are a part of body’s immune system. Swollen lymph nodes may signal an infection or other underlying pathology. Lymph nodes of armpits drains the breast area, hence need to be examined in detail in female patient. You can examine yourself by raising your one arm up and using your other hand to examining the armpit for swollen nodes; repeat self examination for both the armpits to feel the difference. Note all the observations made self examination like the feel on touch [hard? rubbery? firm? single or multiple?], pain, redness, size and whether it is single or multiple. Then look for any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss, cough, cold, changes in texture or any discharge from breast tissue. If self examination appears difficult, your family physician can examine you efficiently. You may update your examination findings here at HCM or to your family physician. After knowing patient history and physical examination depending on extent of problem, the treating doctor may order blood tests, X-rays, and a CT scan of the affected area. On some occasions, a biopsy from the swollen lymph node may be needed for more accurate diagnosis and treatment. Good luck. Hope your concern is answered. Thank you.
