Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lips

So there is couple of things going on, so many questions. Let s start off with 3 days ago I was seen because my lips were bumpy irritated swollen they sent me home with medicine maybe an allergic reaction then a few days later I notice my head kept oozing a clear or yellowish liquid , it smells funny it dries up hardens my hair and now my scalp feels crusty like scabby , it s red and I have knots like bumps on my scalp along with it still oozing. It s painful to move my hair too much and it stings with slight pressure. Now on the other hand my swelling on my lips went down but there are minor bumps and a ring where the swelling was. My eyes have gotten a bit puffy and really red. My skin is breaking out and I m getting exactly ONE bump in random places on my body and all of these things itch. So my questions are what do you think is causing these problems, do you think all or some of these problems are related, should I be worried, what should I do .

Hi,

As per your complain eruption of recurring bumps all over the body along with bumps on scalp that oozes fluid can be due to common causes like:

- CONTACT DERMATITIS that is an allergic reaction which occurs when skin comes in contact with certain agents that your body is allergic to like skin cosmetics, detergents, soaps, fragrances, leather, latex, poison ivy etc

- FOLLICULITIS or generalized hair follicle infection caused by Staphylococcus bacteria leading to formation of painful bumps over different parts of the body

- Another cause can be food allergy or side effect of medicines

You should consult an Allergist or Immunologist and get evaluated and a complete blood picture, culture of the fluid and microscopy of the scrapings from lesions can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. As you also have puffy eyes and swollen lips the chances of allergic reaction are high. So as of now you can take anti allergics like benadryl for relieving itching and do cool compresses over bumps. Once the cause is ruled out it will be treated accordingly

- In case of Contact Dermatitis you will be advised anti allergics, topical steroid ointment application and also avoiding exposure to allergen when it is ruled out. In recurring conditions Immunotherapy will be advised to you.

- In case of folliculitis antibiotics oral and topical and topical steroids can be advised along with anti allergics to control itching.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
