Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My knee has hurt off and on for a year since I fell against a sharp object. It hurts off and on for no apparent reason. Now a year later it s getting worse, again for no obvious reason. Now swelling is going upward from my kneel very sore and stuff. This is the worse it s been. I am 70 years old and in generally great health
I am sorry to hear about your swollen knee. you have been having knee pain swelling and stiffness for several years and now it is getting more often and with more swelling. You are concerned as to what would be causing your pain. The knee is a very complicated joint and has several things that could be causing your pain. In my practice I would start with a full knee exam and followed by xrays. This could help detect arthritis, meniscal tears or ligament damage. An MRI of the knee may need to be done to further diagnose the problem. I recommend that you seek medical attention to get the proper work up and treatment for your knee since it does interfere with your lifestyle.
Hope this answers your question. Please contact us again with your concerns.
