Suggest Treatment For Swollen Feet And Ankles With Rapid Weight Gain

My husband has gained 10 lbs in less than 2 weeks, feet and ankles swollen and xtremely painful turning almost blue/purple at times. I try to watch his salt intake and have got him to drink at least 20oz of water a day along with other fluids. He takes blood pressure meds(lisinapril ) and Ibuprophen 800 mg. and 3 yrs ago had conjestive heart problems. What can he do to ease the pain and swelling of his feet and ankles?
