Suggest Treatment For Swollen, Bruised Ankle And Leg Post Injury
I injured my right ankle on 1-5-16. I stepped down 1 step and the next thing I knew I was laying on the ground. I went to the ER and was told that I had broken my right ankle and a mild sprain on my left. I followed up with an Ortho Dr and was told that I have a severe sprain on Right. I have had three sets of xrays taken so far. I am a diabetic on insulin and meds to control my sugar. My right foot/ankle are still very swollen, badly bruised and I don't see improvement. I am in a brace with crutches right now. I am concerned because I don't see it getting better. I wonder if I should get a second opinion. My Ortho Dr said to wear the brace and come back in a month. What do you think? Any advise for me.
The swelling can sometimes take days to weeks to resolve because of persisting inflammation of the joint. Bruising can also take a prolonged period to improve as well.
You may consider waiting out the period indicated by your doctor. If on the review, you are still not satisfied, then you can see another doctor for a second opinion.
I hope this helps
