Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Knee

Having left knee discomfort. Symptoms are impressive swelling all around, above and below knee, the feeling that the kneecap momentarily shifts or pops or clicks like when someone squeezes your hand too tight and your bones rub together. No pain when I am sitting, difficult to straighten knee when I stand up. Feel a lot of pressure behind the knee with a pulling sensation and pressure all over front of knee when walking especially stairs. Saw family Dr..took 5 days of Medrol dose pack...relieved a lot of the swelling and pain, but still have all symptoms as listed. I ice and rest and elevate my leg. The swelling gets much worse if I am sedentary.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
your symptoms point to a knee arthritis which could be caused by a bacterial infection or micro-crystals.If i were your treating physician, i will collect some of the knee fluid and send for analysis, then place you on pain/anti-inflammatory medications and diuretics to reduce the knee swelling while waiting for the results of the analysis.Discuss this with your Doctor.
Wish you a quick recovery
