Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Jaw

I do not feel ill however my right jaw, under my ear is very swollen and sore. I can open my mouth without pain. This began with a stiff neck that I assumed was from excercising however it became more concentrated in this particular area yesterday and this morning is obviously swollen. It is also very hard. My ears feel full.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to health care magic.

1.The most possible cause could be swollen parotid gland due to infection / inflammation, mass lesion.
2.Next possible cause could be lymph nodal enlargement - due to any underlying medical condition.
3.In case recommended next step should be - see your GP and get examined, and request for an ultrasound scan of the swelling area.
4.Ultrasound will evaluate the nature of the lump, its source, extensions.
5.In case of mass lesion FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology to evaluate the nature of cells involved.
6.Sugget to get an appointment, get examined, investigated and treated accordingly.

Good luck.
