Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Tongue And Difficulty Swallowing

It is my Mother and she has a cervical nerve and spinal cord problem and is 91 years old. She says her tongue feels as if it is swollen and that she cannot swallow anything and to add to matters she is missing teeth so chewing is a problem as well. We thought maybe some sort of meal powder to mix with juice or milk and that she could drink through a straw. Do you have any other suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

We have to rule out possible causes like pharyngitis or abscess.

She might require a laryngoscopy for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
