Suggest Treatment For Swelling Nad Bruising On The Toe

I recently had a heavy glass flower vase fall into my big toe causing it to swell and bruise instantly. I put ice on it and elevated it to try and reduce the swelling which helped but I still have a throbbing sensation kind of like I can feel my pulse in the bruised area. Is there any way to make it stop

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I appreciate your concern
This could be due to cellulitis or inflammation of the toe following injury
Throbbing pain is again is suggestive of inflammation.
If you can upload me a photograph and other related information like your age and presence of any metabolic disease like diabetes

I would advise you to get an X ray of the foot to rule out fracture and other blood tests to see for infection

Keep your leg at higher end
You can apply hot packsto reduce swelling and pain
You can also take pain killer ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain relief

Hope this answers your question
Best wishes
