Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Ankle, Fingers And Hand

i suffered a stroke in Dec. of 2015. My left side ( arm, leg, foot, hand ) were Hem iplegic. I have since gone through 7 months of OT and OT. I am now experiencing tremendous swelling in my left ankle and minor swelling of the fingers on left hand. What can I do to reduce swelling?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that theses swellings I presume to be because of dependent areas. Your left limbs have been lying dependent as from 7 months, this theses swellings. I would like to suggest that you ask someone to keep you affected limbs at higher level than your body with help of pillows or anything.Swellings will reduce by gravity and towards heart. Chymotrypsin is also used in reducing swellings, you can try that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
