Suggest treatment for swelling and severe shoulder pain

Hi...I have been having pain in my Rt. Shoulder meaning that it hurts to do simple things such as pick up a cup of coffee...Sunday my right hand between my first two fingers became very painful for no apparent reason...It felt like I had a broken knuckle or something not to mention not a lot of strength. Yesterday I woke up and the same hand was visibly swollen. Still hurt but not quite as much. Today I woke up and the swelling has gone down quite a bit but it s still swollen. I have been diagnosed with some arthritis in my neck and I have degenerative disc disease... Please help, I m worried..

I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. The symptoms you are experiencing (pain in your left shoulder which comes round the top of your breast area) might be related to - muscle strain - radiculopathy (irritation of nerves in the cervical/thoracic spine level).

It might be due to inflammation (arthritis) or compression of the nerve root. Further examinations by spine X-ray and MRI and consultation with a neurologist are needed to identify the right cause.

Meanwhile, I advise to: - take otc pain killers to reduce pain and inflammation - keep massaging the neck and thoracic part of the spine - apply warm clothing locally - take multivitamin supplementation containing vit.B complex, Ca, and Vit.D.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Severe shoulder pain after drinking alcohol-extreme pain until alcohol (which is only a couple of drinks) is out of system at 5 or 6am, no relief or worsening of pain on movement of arm. No relief from painkiller or anti-inflammatory tablets. Occasional dizziness, blurred vision, ankle swelling-all mild & ignorable. Unexplained weight loss- 1 to 2lbs per week for 1 year. Long term rash on upper outer arms & on shoulder blade area for 6 months. Never itchy - dry rash & burns if any creams etc applied. Initially looks like large area of ringworm in different sizes but now looks like a general patchy rash. Comes in waves with circles first, then patchy, back to circles, then patchy again etc. Doctor insisted it isn t fungal. Low bicarbonate levels of 19, high chloride levels of 109. Low folate levels of 2.5, now on prescribed folic acid. NRBCs 0.01 on differential blood count. Awaiting coeliac screen blood test. Hypothyroidism for 5 years, levels all ok at present. Not a diabetic. Any advice appreciated.

I have horrible shoulder pain in my right arm. I play college football and have seen two doctors about it and both said physical therapy will help. I don t have any range of motion and when my palm is facing up I cannot lift my arm. It is extremely painful/weak. I have gone through physical therapy and it only seems to be making it worse. I have not gotten an MRI yet because doctors advised not to. To me it feels like a labrum/rotator cuff issue.
