Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain On The Ankles

For about a week my right ankle has been swelling and causing me lots of pain. Compression on when I walk helps butputting it up seems to be the only way it eases the pain.i also noticed yesterday both my elbows are bruised for no apparent reason. No pain,I never hurt them and it may just be a coincidence .what do you think could be wrong

Thanks for posting your query.

One sided joint pain with swelling indicates arthritis. Now what is causing arthritis has to be evaluated.

Looking at the site ( Ankle joint ) my first probable diagnosis will be Gout. This is a condition where there will be excess of Uric acid in the blood which will get deposited into the joints and cause Arthritis.

It can be diagnosed by doing a test called Serum. Uric acid.

The other possibility is infectious arthritis , which is infection of the joint but usually in this case there will be redness over the joint and fever.

I recommend you to get Serum uric acid test done and if it comes normal then get an x ray of ankle joint and Complete Hemogram test.

Till then apply crepe bandage over the joint , you can take combiflam for pain relief.

Your elbow bruise is not related to the ankle joint pain.
