Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Bursa Area Of Left Knee

I have a lot of pain in the bursa area of my left knee. I have had injections, physical therapy and use cold compresses. It is hard to go up and downs stairs and even getting up from a chair. Do you think it could be a meniscus tear? The bursa area feels hot at time and is swollen. Yes I am over weight. I can not exercise due to the pain. Any suggestions. Thank you.

Hello,

It is necessary performing a knee joint MRI in order to examine the meniscus for possible tearing. For the moment it seems to be just local inflammation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
