Suggest Treatment For Sudden Night Time Leg Spasms

I get bad leg cramps at night, not Charlie horses, they feel like my muscles are twisting around my leg. pain is mainly down the outside of my leg going down to my toes and makes my toes curl up. How can I make them stop, right now all that helps so to get up and pace. I am not getting enough potassium?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Night time leg spasm can be due to electrolyte imbalance or calcium or vitamin D deficiency. If you sweat more then also there can excess electrolyte loss. Low potassium also can cause cramps. Better to check your blood electrolytes levels , vitamin D and vitamin B 12 levels. If those are low supplements should be taken. Taking warm milk before bed time and taking bananas is good also.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
