Suggest Treatment For Strep Infection In Throat
Both of my children (ages 4 and 6) had strep throat a few weeks ago and then I tested positive for strep. They were treated with amoxicillin for 10 days and are doing fine now. I was treated with penicillin for 10 days. I had a re-emergence of symptoms after finishing the course of abx so I was prescribed amoxicillin for 10days. I had a re-emergence of symptoms including severe throat inflammation/airway obstruction after completion. I was prescribed the z-pak for 5 days and just completed the course. I feel well while on antibiotics; little throat pain or inflammation but it doesn t seem like the antibiotic is completely eradicating the infection. The doctor wants me to start a second course of z-pak today. I am sick of being sick. I am usually very well and maybe one infection per year or every other year so this is highly unusual for me. What do you think?

Hi,
Noted the history about having strep throat in children who got well after Amoxicillin but you have continued to have it recurrently in spite of courses of Penicillin, Amoxicillin, Z-pack and also developed the symptoms like congestion and so on.
As per the history you have provided it seems that you are getting re-infection from someone in office or at home.
To stop the cycle you have to get separated by taking a off, stopping the people contacts and then only it is possible to have a cure.
Also needed is to increase your immunity with multivitamins, mineral and trace elements.
Also get your Vitamin A and D levels to see whether needs corrective doses.
Throat gargles with povidone iodine as per the instructions on the gargle bottles will help more.
Avoid any foods and beverages that cause the recurrent throat problems.
