Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Just came back from a trip to Singapore flying through Hong Kong. I had some light stomach cramps before the flight. Now I have diarrhea and low body temp. A slight headache comes and goes but I don t know if this from the time zone change and its effect on sleep. The diarrhea started the night before the flight. Now (2 days later) it is basically water. I got up this morning worked for a few hours but then went to bed where I have been, in bed going in and out of sleep for about 8 hours. Contemplating going to doctor but it seems a bit early for that. What do you think.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Abdominal cramps associated with diarrhea is suggestive of gastrointestinal tract (GIT) infection. Headache could be due to hangover associated with change in time zone. Watery diarrhea can be due to infection or osmotic diarrhea. maintain good hydration, take balanced diet rich in proteins and avoid tinned food. Rest for couple of days will help to relieve the headache. If the diarrhea does not relieve you can get stool examination- routine and microscopy to look for infection.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
