Suggest Treatment For Stomach Bloating And Blood In Stool
Hi, My four years old child has blood and mucus in his stool it started 2 years ago on and off ,he has difficulty when passing stool no matter the consistency of the stool ,i think he is bloated and some times has stomach cramps, and we have a cat i am not sure if it has something to do with the problem.
Blood and mucus in the stool could be indicative of bleeding from distal/terminal portion of GIT I.e. from large intestine to anus.
In your case,if he is having anal fissure then it could be the reason but I would want to rule out the other causes like large bowel obstruction, ulcerative colitis etc.
I don't think it has anything to do with your cat.
Your child may require thoroughly clinical examination with proctoscopy to rule out any other lower GIT etiologies.
He may require antibiotics suspension (quinolones-ofloxacin with antiprotozoals- metronidazole/ornidazole) with topical steroids and antihistamines to prevent bleeding if it is coming from anus otherwise treatment is mainly depend on the underlying cause.
Consult pediatric surgeon for further advise immediately.
