Suggest Treatment For Stiffness In A Dislocated Ankle Despite Surgery
I had surgery on my ankle 6 weeks ago to fix a dislocated and fracture of both bones in my ankle. I had a plate and i believe 2 screws put in. My problem is that I now have my cast off and I am ready to start physical therapy, but my ankle is locked and I can t move it. It sounds crazy but it feels like the reason I can t move it is because when I go to lift my ankle, I think I feel either the screw or the plate jamming my ankle. cod this be? I definitely feel like a scraping or rubbing that I never felt before. When I bring it up to my doctor he said that I will feel some weird pain. This is not normal to me. Should I try the physical therapy for a month and see if I still have the pain? Or should I get a second opinion. I can t be out of work much longer.
Hello, Welcome to hcm, As your ankle was on prolonged rest for 6 weeks ,pain and stiffness is known to occur for few days to week.I advice you to continue physical therapy as advised by your doctor .if the symptoms doesn't subside then go for second opinion.
Thank you, Take care
