Hi, I am 56 yr old. All of a sudden my left big toe was swollen and was paining. I was finding it difficult to walk even. Now after 2 days my right hand last finger has swollen and is stiff. I experience more stiffness and pain just as I wake up. What should I do?

Hi,

As the symptoms are acute in origin you should visit your primary care provider {PCP}, who might ask for an investigation(s) like serum uric acid and RA factor to exclude arthritic pain and then refer you for an opinion of Rheumatologist, till then take a mild analgesic/anti-inflammatory drug like ibuprofen. Apply a cold pack for 20 minutes to reduce pain/swelling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
