Suggest Treatment For Stage Iv Lung Cancer With Metastasis
My husband has stage lV lung cancer with metastases. He had chemo for 4months and a pet scan was taken. The tumors had shrunk. He was given radiation to his chest in January and another pet scan was done last week cause he was complaining of pain in his right cheek. The results of the petscan were not good. While he was getting radiation to his chest his liver was having a party and the cancer was spreading. He has been given a 20% chance of survival. Chemo now is an option. I am concerned that if he does go for a stronger chemo what quality of life is he going to have, or should we just opt to stop the chemo and live out whatever time he has left.
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. In my opinion you should go for another cycle of chemotherapy. Your husband is having stage 4 lung cancer with liver metastasis. This makes prognosis poorer and life expectancy is less than 16-18 months. But as you said that his lung tumour was shrunken after chemotherapy, I suggest another chemotherapy cycle. His lung cancer is highly chemo sensitive. So benefit from another chemotherapy will be more. And this may improve life expectancy. Above all, it will definitely reduce the sufferings (pain) and improve quality of life. So better to give him chemotherapy, rather than not doing anything.
