Suggest Treatment For Spreading Rashes On The Neck

My 30 yr. old vegan son has a growing rash on his neck in front and back and going up under his hairline in the back. He said it is kind of itchy but actually painful to the touch. At first it was rounded red bumps (4 days ago) but now the bumps look whitish on top. There is no fluid coming out. He s never had allergies or rashes of this type before. I have told him to see a dermatologist but he refuses (so far). It seems to be expanding. Almost like shingles (he did have very mild chicken pox as a child) or a yeast infection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The description of the lesions you did seems much like shingles. He can use calamine lotion over them to ease the itching.

Also use antihistamines such benadryl or citerizine for itching and rush. Using acyclovir tablets will help them not to be spread further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
