Suggest Treatment For Spinal Stenosis

My 83 year old father has spinal stenosis and is in extreme pain. He has tried everything non surgical (including injections/epidurals) to alleviate pain and manage it for years. He is at the point where medication (Percocet) no longer works and he is not sleeping. Limping from pain. He has had 2 opinions for surgery but I am concerned he is at risk in surgery since he has high cholesterol, and takes Coumadin. He is under a cardiologist s care who has cleared him for surgery. I am concerned about his coming through surgery and then the after effects with rehab/recovery time and pain management if needed. Is he trading this pain for different pain and ongoing pain meds need - basically what he is doing now. Is this a good move?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Consult an orthopedics and get evaluated. Newer modalities like steroid injection can be tried for best results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
