Suggest Treatment For Spams Of Calf Muscles

My calf muscle is very sore and I have an area the size of a quarter that is discolored. I have had several muscle spasms or Charlie horse that happens in bed sometimes waking me up or it occurs in the morning while stretching before getting out of bed. Very painful.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to decrease in calcium or vitamin D 3 levels in blood. So better to check blood levels of those. You should also check other electrolytes like magnesium, sodium and potassium as changes in these also can cause cramps. Vitamin B 12 level also should be checked. If any of these is low then supplementation of it will help to normalize your condition.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
