It started as a sore throat for about 2-3 days then for the last 14-16 hours it s been swollen. No trouble breathing at all but swollen. My saliva is alittle foamy and I have to spit it out. Not sure what it is. Thought it was a sore throat and it would go away but It hasn t. Any suggestions or thoughts would be great
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection as when infection get spread down the respiratory tract it gives these symptoms.
Need not to worry. Avoid intake of outside food. Avoid sharp and spicy food and chew on sugar free candy to stimulate flow of saliva. For now do warm saline gargles several times a day and apply warm compresses to throat externally. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis without any delay otherwise infection will spread further. Doctor may order throat swab test and blood test. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial for at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
