Brief answer:
PHARYNGITIS with
GLOSSITIS..
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that your son is suffering from infection in throat leading to
sore throat and the redness of tongue is due to inflammation and the condition is known as Glossitis..
The Pharyngitis can be bacterial or viral in nature..
In case if it is caused due to cold or it is associated with symptoms of
common cold it is viral in nature and if it is not associated with cold it is caused by
Streptococcus bacteria commonly..
You should consult a general physician and get him evaluated and get a
Strep test done..
In case of bacterial infection antibiotics like
Azithromycin 5OO mg once a day for 5 days can be prescribed..
Warm saline gargles will help..
Gargles with chlorohexidine mixed in water will relieve..
Throat lozenges will soothe the throat..
Use a humidifier at home and do steam inhalations.
Avoid spicy foods..
For Glossitis sucking ice pops can help..
For pain i throat as well as tongue Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can be taken..
Do cold water gargles to reduce inflamamtion..
Avoid hot,spicy and acidic foods..
Hope this information helps..
