Suggest Treatment For Snoring & Asthma

Hello, me and my boyfriend have been together for over a year now. i have always been a mild snorer but the past few days the snoring has been so loud he has been unable to sleep at all. Also the past few days my throat has been hurting quite a bit and i wake up with the right side of my tongue numb. I have been a bit concerned lately because my asthma has become worse in the past few months and i have found myself waking up in the middle of the night trying to catch my breath.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of asthma waking you up in the middle of night, snoring increased for the past few days, numbness of right side of tongue. Asthma itself can add on to the snoring. Pain in throat indicates pharyngitis and increased edema can increase preexisting snoring.
Other reason are:
- Rhinitis giving enlarged turbinates
- Antro-choanal polyp
- Deviated nasal septum

Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Consult your Doctor for preliminary examination, investigations and prescription based medications.

If there is relief then continue the medicines till get alright. If required get a second opinion of an ENT surgeon, further investigations and management as per the cause found. Continue proper management for asthma which may need change from time to time.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
