Suggest Treatment For Small Red Itchy Blisters And Rashes On The Scalp

My daugher is 42 she is now covered with what looks like chicken pox but she thinks it shingles. They are red rashy looking and blister like. They are on her hands back arms legs and now she thinks they are forming on her scalp. What do you think they are and should she seek doctors advise, I say yes.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It may be chickenpox also called varicella as the there are scattered vesicular eruptions on different sites of the body. In shingle or herpes zoster the vesicular lesions are in clusters and in zone that occurs on one side of the body. The lesions are not wide spread.

I would suggest..

- antiviral like acyclovir 800 mg thrice a day
- antibiotics
- anti inflammatory drugs
- silver sulfadiazin cream to apply
- rest

The lesions may take 2 to 3 weeks to resolve.

Thanks.
