Suggest Treatment For Small Itchy Bumps On The Skin

I have a 68 yr old friend who has had very itchy skin (with small bumps) for 2.5 yrs. She had been quite healthy but after a prolonged period of stress she developed the itchy skin which has led to bad fatigue due to lack of sleep because she scratches in the night. She says the little bumps are mainly on her back, some on scalp, few on arms and legs that come and go. The itching mainly bothers her at night. She feels cold now. Spends a lot of time with animals...goats, chickens, turkeys, dogs. Her little mtn farm gives her an off-the-grid, organic life. She is living on $500/mo and has no health insurance. I have talked her into at least getting a CBC, blood chem panel and thyroid test done next Tuesday. Is there anything else I should consider (keeping in mind there is precious little money for conventional medicine)? Is a dermatologist the one to consult with for her problem?

The possible. of the condition based on the description of the lesions is senile Xerox is. She may need to apply an emolient regularly all over her body.Antihistamines like desloratadine may also be used. If she does not get proper sleep at night you might also consider a sedative antihistamine like hydroxizine.
