Suggest Treatment For Small Hole Of 5mm In Diameter In Nasal Septum

i live in a dry region now after growing up in a humid one. I had daily nose bleeds and constantly picked the scabs due to discomfort. last January I developed a small hole 3mm in diameter in my septum. my daily nose bleeds stopped after the opening occurred. eleven months later the hole is about 5mm. do I need to get it closed with surgery?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
HI,
Most of septal holes are asymptomatic ( trouble free). The open irritated and raw surface must be continuously covered with a moisturizing cream using a cotton applicator. This will prevent this area from drying out, cracking, bleeding, forming a scab and crusting up. A few months of successful application will allow the ulcerated edge to heal and reduces or resolves symptoms.
If it does not heal and it is causing symptoms like frequent bleeds and nasal block you can go for surgical intervention...
thank you..
