I have on many occasions stayed awake all night . I am on doctors advice taking Tylenol PM. If I do go to sleep I sometimes wake up during the night and can t go back to sleep. In the past I have taken prescription sleeping pills, but have after effects from them. What can I do to get some sleep. I do not have a credit card.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Sleep apnea is a problem that a lot of people suffer from. It basically implies you have trouble breathing while you try to sleep and that causes you to have a rough night.
Couple of things you can do. Cut down on things with caffeine after 5 p.m. Avoid alcohol. Prop your head up on two pillows. Walk a little after food to help digest your food and tire you out. You could try nasal drops containing oxymetazoline to help clear your nasal passages.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
