Suggest Treatment For Skin Tag On Scalp

I'm 28 years old. 3 days ago I had a cryotherapy for a skin tag on my scalp. But that skin tag, and the healthy skin around it, got swollen after the therapy, and now pus is coming out of it, all the time. The skin tag looks even bigger now. What should I do? I'm so worried!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi there.
I hear you & understand your anxiety.
I take it either the treating dermatologist did not fully explain the procedure & its outcome or you did not follow it completely before undergoing the cryotherapy.
The swelling & pain is common post-cryotherapy & the lesion should peel off or it may require a second sitting after a week or two.
However, pus is not a usual occurrence & suggests a secondary infection. Are you a diabetic by any chance or do you have a lowered immunity on any account?
Please take an appropriate antibiotic & all will be well. No need to panic. Get back to the doctor who treated you as it will require a prescription.
For these very same complications, I am not a big fan of cryotherapy & much prefer the tangible removal of the lesion either by lasers or simple Electrosurgery that produces immediate results.
If in Bangalore region, please drop in to see me for a free consult at Vikram Hospital or Sita Bhateja Hospital depending on which area you reside.
Good Luck & Godspeed.
