Suggest Treatment For Skin Rash

My husband developed a skin rash a couple of weeks ago. He s been prescribed a cream for the non-stop itch, and a lotion that is to seal in the applied cream. Yesterday, a solid patch, about three inches in diameter, developed on his skin, inside his arm, just below his bicep area. It is itchy and mean looking. I had a mild case of shingles about 2 years ago. I was given a shingles vaccine. I know it can come back and the vaccine is not a cure. At the time, I was not told that it is contagious. I was just told this today, by someone who has the virus. Thank you for your response Dr. Andrew Rynne.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of skin rashes which could be due to hormonal disturbances and allergic reaction of body and increased skin susceptibility of body getting infected. Need not to worry. You should take diet rich in multivitamins. Till then apply topical steroid e.g fluticasone propionate cream, twice daily at affected sites for 7- 10 days. Avoid touching or pricking rashes as it will exaggerate your situation. I would suggest you to visit dermatologist once and get it examined. You should go for patch test for allergic reaction. Start treatment after proper examination and diagnosis. Avoid intake of oily and fast food. You should not touch and prick them. Drink plenty of water.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
