Suggest Treatment For Skin Allergy After Spider Bite

Hi was bitten by spider and two days later had major swelling of foot with sores which then turned into craters(like flesh getting eaten). Five weeks later bitten on other foot. Swelling didnt happen until two weeks later. I think it was because I didnt scratch the itch. Feet were swollen, sores were coming up and had a few spots happening on knees legs and stomach etc. Fish net rash on legs, haemooraging with pin pricks on legs, red/purple feet and knees and a little lump on side of foot which I got an ultrasound on and found out it was a track. Swelling eventually went all the way up to my shoulders. I couldnt walk anymore because of the pain. I put myself to bed for five days to try and reduce swelling. This helped a little bit. I had went to hospital prior to being bedridden and had blood tests done. The week prior to this white cells were at 14 and bllod test from hospital said everything was normal. Drs thought i had lupus but tests came back negative. They then thought it might be a skin allargy. Had a biopsy done and that showed I had bacteria infection in veins. A few weeks later they decided to agree with me....caused by spider bites. I still have rashes and am on steroids and sores are still coming out especially when reducing dosage. Swelling happens in feet area still but not as bad as it was, fish net still visible but has reduced, lots of dents in feet and knees and hands(like flesh eaten) and on knuckles of feet and fingers and top and side of foot have lumps but bones dont hurt. One became so big I tried squeezing it and this hard white stuff came to surface.

Hi,

Spider bite leads to some allergic conditions like you mentioned. You take Antihistamines like Leocetrizine and Anti-inflammatory like aceclofenac to subside your problem. Work your primary care doctor to achieve these.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pramod Kokare, General & Family Physician
