Suggest Treatment For Sinus Infection

I quit smoking last year and within a month had a terrible sinus infection. Since I like breathing, I resorted to nose spray, ever though I know it s harmful. I used it for about 6 months before finally laying it down. I have gradually started losing my taste for foods I have always loved and I can no longer smell most things. Should I be worried? Should I see an ear, nose and throat doctor? Or is this something I have to learn to live with. Several times a day I have to blow my nose. One side or the other (never both at the same time), have clear mucous come out and then I m fine for several hours. Help!?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think this may be related to allergic sinusitis and you may need to get tested for it.
You should do allergy tests.
You can take antihistamines such benadryl or citerizine for running nose.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
