Suggest Treatment For Sinus Infection

Hi, I am a 40 year old female on Synthroid for hypothyroidism from thyroid CA 15 years ago. I am also taking hydrocortisone for adrenal insufficiency and under further investigations and adjustments of both medications from my endo, who is currently on leave. I suffered an adrenal crisis on Tuesday and since then have developed a sinus infection, been off work for two days and have slept for most of those days. I am starting to feel worse, drooping eyelids, just want to sleep, back ache, etc. I have doubled my hydro cortisone, but am worried that I am going down hill. Should I go to hospital or back to my GP?

Hello,

Typically, when a doctor goes on leave from his office or the hospital there is usually someone from the practice or department covering for emergency cases involving their patients.

I would recommend your endocrinologist's office first to see what they say about speaking to another doctor who is likely on call for his patients. I would not recommend changing your medications on your own without their advice.

Your GP likely knows you better than an Emergency Dept. so calling them for advice depends on your previous experiences with them on these matters.

They can then, counsel you regarding needing to stop by an ER or Urgent Care center vs. another suggestion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
