Suggest Treatment For Sinus Congestion

My sinuses are draining, I can t get warm, and I have no fever. Feeling tired but not really achy. Cannot take over the counter meds as I have a paradoxical reaction to them and they almost always do the opposite of what they are to do. I took an aleve. SInus drainage is clear, not green.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Well, you have not mentioned the exact symptoms, also the problem is related to sinuses. Hence, I would advise you to first of all, consult an ENT Surgeon as you have paradoxical reactions to the medicines for sinus drainage. Get a CT scan of nose and sinuses done so that an exact condition of sinuses can be known and thus gives an idea about further management. Nasal Endoscopy helps a lot. Tests of blood for CBC, IgE for allergy, HbA1c and blood sugars to rule out diabetes as you will need oral steroids.

Your doctor may then prescribe you oral steroids in tapering doses. Topical steroid in the form of nasal sprays. Any other medicines after consulting you about the OTC medicines you tried but had paradoxical response. Surgery if indicated by investigations, clinical evaluation and CT scan reports or medical treatment fails.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
