Suggest Treatment For Sinus Congestion, Lack Of Appetite And Swollen Nasal Cavity

I have sinus conjestion and cant smell or taste and no appetite. Dr gave me levofloxacin500mg to take right before our scheduled cruise. I didn t take the pills because of a lot of sunshine and drinking alcohl on the boat It would be hard to eat at certain times and cant take vitamins with this medicine. I don t feel that I need something this strong. Can you suggest another antibiotic? I was on azithromycin 250 mg and prednisone 5 mg about 6 weeks ago and it didn t get rid of whatever I have. What do I have? Swollen passages in the nasal cavity maybe. I use Qnasl in the mornings to keep me open and it only helps for a few hrs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that you might be having upper respiratory tract infection with sinusitis.
Levofloxacin is good antibiotic and it is advisable to complete the course as this infection might increase during cruise trip.
Take some decongestant medicine to control nasal congestion.
Ok and take care.
