Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Diamox

My sister was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri. She is 17 years old, and she is experiencing many issues. We are having trouble distinguishing her symptoms from the side effects of the medication (1,500mg of Diamox). My sister experiences temporary vision loss, short term memory loss, dizziness, recurring ganglion cysts, and chronic back pain. Any information you can provide me with is greatly appreciated. On a side note, we are currently waiting to hear back from John Hopkins and another research hospital in Canada, to see who can give her the earliest appointment. If anyone is familiar with any hospital (location doesn t matter, we are willing to travel) that specializes in pseudotumor cerebri, I m all ears!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The Diamox is used for various neurologic and ophthalmologic conditions with raised intracranial pressure issues. There are ample number of side effects of the Diamox as:
- Severe skin rash
- Toxic epidermal necrolysis
- Steven Johnson Syndrome
- Hypotension
- Flaccid paralysis
- Liver ill effects with raised liver function tests
- Low white blood cell counts
- Others
The management of the above needs admission at hospital with intensive care facility.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
