Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have shoulder pain that comes and goes. It wakes me at night. I am 67, I can lift my arm and I have good rotation.. It seems more like muscle pain. I have had it for the last ten or twelve years. I am retired letter carrier for last eight years. I thought it would go away. It has been more irritating than anything, except these last few months it wakes me at night.
As per your query you have shoulder pain from last ten to twelve years . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like avascular necrosis , brachial plexus injury , nerve impingement , sprains and strains , osteoarthritis , rheumatoid arthritis, rotator cuff injury and torn cartilage . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , X-ray and ask you to do certain movements . Doctor may also order blood test for arthiritis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , calcium supplement and may recommend you physical therapy of shoulder . I would suggest you to do light exercises and stretching exercises under expert .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
