Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, on Dec 1,2016 I was diagnosed with lest thyroid swelling. I go for a biopsy tomorrow 2/21/17. About two weeks ago, I started having left shoulder and arm pain. There are times I can barely lift my arm. The pain also radiates down my arm often al the way to my fingers. What can cause this and should I be worried about it? The pain is constant. I don t have access to a credit card.
Very likely the pain in the shoulder and arm is not related to the thyroid problem. It seems that because the pain radiates down to the fingers it might be due to the nerve being pinched. This may happen in the level of the vertebra or on the way mostly due to muscular spasms around the nerve.
You may take some ibuprofen to help with the pain and if there is no improvement, you will need to see your doctor and have a physical examination to determine the cause and give you the proper treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
General & Family Physician
