Suggest Treatment For Shingles On The Scalp

I just found out I have shingles on my scalp and forehead. When I went to the doctor I thought my skin sarcoidosis was flaring up, it is shingles. I saw 2 doctors, neither told me it was contagious. During this time I have been around a newborn grandchild. What is his risk?

Hello,

I think you should not meet a newborn while suffering from shingles.
Most probably he will take it and develop chickenpox since he is not vaccinated. If he is breastfeeding the probability of getting it, lowers because he has mother's antibodies.

*You can wash head with lukewarm water.
*Dry it with towels.
*Use calamine lotion.
*Use antivirals such acyclovir.
*Use Ibuprofen for pain relief.
*Can use Lidocaine patches to relieve itching.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
