Suggest Treatment For Sharp Throat Pain And Tonsillitis

Hi, I have a stinging / sharp pain on the right side of my throat just by my tonsils. I ve had a look and there doesn t appear to be any abnormalities or swelling where the pain is. It hurts more when I swallow and move my tongue to the back of my mouth. I ve had some throat lozenges which work a little but not massively. My throat is also quite dry even though I am trying to drink more. This has been going on for about 4 days - do you have any idea what it is and what I can do to make it go away please? Thank you!

Welcome to HCM,
I read your query and i appreciate your concern regarding this issue.
The condition you are suffering from is probably soar throat, nothing else so do not worry.
If I will be your treating doctor, I would advise you to
- Take acetaminophen for pain & fever
- Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.
- Take Diphenhydramine + Dextromethorphan in case of cough or throat irritation
- Take Lozenges it will give soothing effect.
AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Drinks
> Spicy food
If symptoms persist after a week then visit hospital.
