Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In The Left Hand

Hello, Doctor, I have been carrying around my 15-month-old daughter since she was born. As a stay-at-home dad, I lift her all day, all week long. Over the last 2-3 weeks, I have been experiencing a sharp pain in my left hand, on top, between the thumb and index finger. This pain appears when I am lifting our daughter in and out of her crib, into/out of her car seat, and similar lifting situations. I bought a compression bandage at CVS. After weeks of the pain slowly getting worse, as well as migrating back towards the wrist, it seems to have stabilized. Am I on the right track? Is this a tendon issue?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sounds to be ligament sprain, strain or tear possibly.

Primary relief with heating pad application, analgesic and anti-inflammatory medicines, local analgesic spray or ointment.

Definite diagnosis requires MRI of the wrist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
