Suggest Treatment For Sharp Lower Abdominal Pain

Hi, I had sharp pains every 20 minutes in my lower stomache area. not cramps but sharp pains. I was fasting for the month but not sure if it had something to do with being dehydrated. So I went to the clinic and explained and the doctor asked a bunch of questions. He says it s a urinary tract infection. He prescribed antibiotics Ciprodar 500 and coli-urinal effervescent granules. 2nd day on them and having side effects. weak and nervous. I m afraid to keep taking them. are these normal side effects?

Hi,

There can be many reasons for pain lower abdomen -enteritis, colitis (intestinal infection) and of course urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection is quite common especially associated with fasting and dehydration. Your doctor has prescribed you these medicines for your infection. I feel that you must complete the course of medicines. Minor side effects like weakness and nervousness can be due to antibiotic or even due to infection in the body.
You need to stop the medicine if there are some severe side effects like dizziness, confusion, skin allergies, severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Since none of these symptoms are present, you should continue the medicine. Make sure that you drink plenty of water 2-3 liters per day. Take a good balanced diet. Relax and don't worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
