Suggest Treatment For Severe Weight Gain While On Thyronorm
I started to take thyronorm 4years ago, then my TSH level was 5.3 and still now it is same. When I started to take thyronorm first I was of 88 kg and after taking it I immediately dropped few kgs and it was then 73 kg and I continued with the same weight for last 4yrs. But suddenly I gain a huge weight and now I am of 88kg again. My height is 5 3 and I am facing many other problems like hair loss, pimples, laziness. My age is 22 years. What should I do? Should I increase the dose of thyronorm?
As per my clinical experience, the weight gain issue with thyroidhormone therapy indicates inadequate dose, loss of body response, emergence of some infection or inflammation in thyroid gland or system. Although TSH level is 5.3 still at present, the free T3 and T4 levels are very vital for the understanding of the issue along with thyroid ultrasound showing if any lesion or echo structure changes.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
